You might not know this, but Darth Vader once had a groupie, and she caused controversy! In the comic books, it is about a nurse obsessed with the former Anakin Skywalker, whose tragic story created controversy among Star Wars fans . This ambiguous portrayal of the fangirl which was not to everyone's taste , even if it also showed the cruelty of the Sith Lord.
THE NURSE FASCINATED BY DARTH VADER
We know of Anakin Skywalker’s lover, Padmé Amidala , but did he have other women in his life ? According to Star Wars: Dark Visions #3, released in 2019, everyone who comes near him is brushed aside… Which doesn’t stop a character from being his fanatical groupie . Aboard the recently constructed Death Star, the nurse of the Dark Lord of the Sith’s surgeon devotes absolute worship to her patient. She convinces herself that he is madly in love with her in secret! Ready to do anything to get closer to him, to touch him, to see him, to share his living space, she takes reckless risks . That Darth Vader doesn’t look at her doesn’t stop her from imagining scenes as cutesy as they are candid in which she and the object of her lust exchange sweet moments.
The surgeon under whom she works may warn her, reprimanding her for her immaturity and fearing the wrath of Darth Vader, the nurse does not understand the seriousness of the situation and remains convinced that he is her soul mate. An attitude reminiscent of real-life examples of women sending love letters and wanting to marry serial killers and other criminals, like Ted Bundy . This fangirl who puts Darth Vader on a pedestal , collects objects related to him, and fantasizes about a relationship with him created controversy at the time of the comic’s release. Several readers criticized the portrayal of this girl who makes fangirls look like anonymous idiots who are submissive to men.
Completely blinded by her fascination with Darth Vader , she loses all sense of reality and no longer shows any caution, interpreting his gestures as discreet proofs of love. When she sees him unmasked and declares her love for him, he stabs her with his lightsaber . After killing this woman, the Sith then asks his troops to ” get this trash out of my quarters ” and her lifeless body is thrown into the trash chute . A cruel ending perceived by some as being misogynistic , especially since the nurse is the only woman in the story, and her personality and development are practically non-existent. Especially since most of the members of the creative team are men (the story was drawn by Dennis Hopeless, and written by Javi Pina and David Lopez). Other Internet users argue that from a character who killed his wife, thought he had killed his child and murdered with his own hands at least twenty children as well as an entire village, women, kill someone and him calling people trash isn’t that shocking .
And you what do you think ?
